Meeting Report |
 |
On June 22nd, our meeting will be for the purpose of honoring our long time waiter from Alex & Henry's, Mar D's & JR 219, Mr Tony Fuenes. He has been with us as long as he has been a member of the wait staff at all three of the restaurants. This is his meeting and we hope that you will join us at this thank you party for Tony with his family. There will be some old faces from some other parts of our history, so hope you will attend.
Fr. Joseph Emmanuel, our new member, is now in Sri Lanka visiting his family and we hope to see pictures of how the recovery from that disaster is coming along. We have ear marked $2,500 from the club to be sent to a club in the provence of Colombo and look forward to correspondence with them in the not too distant future. By sending our dollars to a Rotary Club, we are eligible for a matching grant from Rotary International in the future.
Mary Ruffo is convalescing at the New York Presbyterian Hospital and is optimistic about her recovery. We wish her the best and look forward to seeing her back at meeting and doing the duty of our permanent secretary.
Please don't forget our night meeting on June the 29th at Fr. Fata Hall at Assumption Church. This will be our past president's dinner. David Walker is in charge of this event which he has entitled "A Roast, A Boast, & A Toast." The program is for the entire club and spouses are invited.
Dues notices are going out over the net, so look for them and try to get them back to John Fix as soon as possible. Our dues are $150.00. It helps to get them in quickly as Rotary at the District level and International has to be paid at the beginning of each year.

The gazebo is here and installed! The installation was finished on Friday the 10th. Acorn from whom the club bought the gazebo installed it on top of the flat and level concrete platform that our member and DPW head, Pete Bonhag, had poured. After the installation, Pete's department came back in and put top soil around the new gazebo and seeded it. In a couple of weeks, the yard will look great and then we could have a noon picnic at the park. As the wood seasons we will have our beauty painted sometime right after labor day. This is something we can all be very proud of. It has taken some persistent cajoling, but persistence has paid off and we will have our white gazebo.
