Happy
Mother's Day to all Mom's and Grandma's!
May in Rotary
is the time when we wrap up our programs for the year that we
started in July. We have had a great year with Alfonso Pena
Alvarez, our Hurricane Katrina relief, our increase in new
members, our great noon programs, our Meals on Wheels, and
many other successes. May also brings us a blood drive, so do
not forget to get donors together. We will see you at
Wednesday 5/3 night's meeting to celebrate our Gift of Life
Baby's return to home.
With the Spring season in
bloom, now is a good time to start thinking about getting
rejunevated. With Spring comes the sprouting of new flowers.
So, why not thinking of sprouting new members into the club. A
task that our President has given us is for every member to
bring in one new member. Let's make an attempt as this
"not-so-hard-to-reach" goal.

Gold Star Mother Memorial!!
The
Home of the Gold Star Mothers Tribute has been determined. The
American Legion & VFW are in the process of obtaining funds for
the memorial. Their new organization, The Home of the Gold Star
Mothers Tribute, has been formed to complete the monument in
Eastchester and to help all who would erect monuments all across
this great nation. Any Mother that has lost a child should receive
our tribute and love.

Need to make-up a few missed
luncheons? Well, now you can with e-club. There are about 15
e-clubs...This convenience should help members out with their
attendance. So, if you feel you are weak in attendance, feel free to
look into the e-club.

Alfonso Pena Alvarez had his last exam and is
cleared to go home and will return with his grandmother on Sunday,
May 7th about 4:30 P.M. In celebration of the success of the
operation and his recovery, our regular Rotary Meeting will be held
at Ciao's at 6:15 p.m. We are doing this so that people who helped
with Alfonso can come. This would be people like one of the Doctors,
a nurse, the driver who picked him up at the airport, the
interpreters, and so many others. Gloria DelVecchio will be at the
celebration along with her two sons, Gary, Jr. and Grant. We look
forward to seeing you there. This is a spouse meeting and the dinner
is $25.00 per person.
May 10th
Our guest speakers are Rabbi Wohl & Judge Sam Fredman. They will discuss general current events - Iran, Iraq, gas prices, etc. They will try to simulate their radio show.
May
17th
Our guest speaker is Judith Dobrof. She is the Exec Director for the Cancer Support Team (CST). This program offers free professional support services for cancer patients and their families.
May 24th
Our guest speaker will be John Calvelli. He will talk on the Bronx Zoo and the WCS (Wildlife Conservation Society).
May
31st
Our guest speaker will be our President John Bahr. He will talk on The DaVinci Code.
